The Reality of the Internet

The internet we have today can be said to be one of the greatest inventions of all time. It has made life for us so much easier and so much faster. It has given us all the information we could possibly need or want. It has brought it all right to our doorstep. Because of all this information people are more aware and more educated, or should I say they should be more aware and educated. But with all these benefits the internet has a lot of downsides and negative traits.

I can imagine how life would be without the internet, but I don’t think I would want to live without it. In terms of information and research, if you didn’t have the internet you would have to go to the library and manually search the books there for your information. And if you need a lot of information this will take very long compared to a few seconds in the internet. The internet has made researching so much faster and there is so much more information now.

Another benefit we have from the internet is communication. The world has become so small thanks to emailing, chatting and all those sites and programs that connect people. It has made keeping in touch and searching for people a lot easier than before. No more writing letters by hand and mailing it. This can all be done with the click of a button.

But although the internet has so many benefits and importance, we cannot change the fact that it is extremely open to everybody. There are so many things we cannot control and cannot censor, which is bad for the younger generation. It is hard to control what they open and search. These are the things that people around them will have to monitor. But despite these the internet was and really is a fantastic invention. And would be hard, not impossible, to live without.
